2010: The Amazing

January 5, 2010

I am so stoked to be beginning a new year and a new decade. I’ll be in Paris (!) for Christmas and New Year’s Eve next time around so I have to make 2010 live up to a Parisian celebration.

Things I Will Do This Year That Are Totally Awesome

Be Bothered: Be bothered to dress up. Be bothered to go out. Be bothered with those false eyelashes. Be bothered to be nice to the checkout chick. Be bothered to clean up after myself.

Be Social:  Socialise more, and give up my hermit lifestyle. I’ll appreciate my chill-out-at-home days if I don’t chill out at home everyday. Go out to see a traditional ballet with amazing costumes, and ditto for opera. See shows at both of the Melbourne Fashion Festivals. See films at the Moonlight and Rooftop Cinemas. Dine aboard the Tramcar Restaurant. Have a tea-party picnic in the botanical garden. Take a long train journey and  hot air balloon ride.

Be Awesome: Wear heels more often. Buy a pair of designer shoes. Start a new career, in what area I don’t exactly  know yet. Have a fantastic apartment, by (a) decorating and taking pride in the one I’m in now, and (b) finding an amazing one with a balcony to move into in November! Meet new people and make heaps of new amazing, inspiring friends. Join a gym to help reach and maintain my fitness goals.

Be Learned and Stuff: Take a drawing class and photography class. Volunteer at Craft Victoria. Take a photograph everyday. Volunteer at one of the Melbourne Fashion Festivals. Research and write about costume history.

Be Parisian: Spend a month in Paris. Go ice-skating. Eat baguettes. Practice French. Experience a real winter!

Be Business-y: Give the shop a make-over. Create even more amazing pieces and make some sales. Have a stall at an artist’s market.

For sure there will be more to add to this as the year progresses (I’m always open to suggestions!) but it feels like we’re off to a good start.

What are your major goals in 2010? What awesome things will you do this year?

Oh gawsh, I can definitely relate the ” Be bothered” thing… I need to put a bit more effort in to EVERYTHING in general! I get so lazy and dismissive sometimes….I’m a big fan of bumming around in my jim-jams if i know I don’t have to go anywhere through the day…O.o Need to take more pride in my appearance and get my “sexy” back, and become a Yummy Mummy 😀 haha

Ooh, I went on the tramcar restaurant last year! It was gorgeous. Delightful service too-our waiter was hilarious, and kept topping up our wineglasses without being asked…needless to say i was pretty sozzled by the end! And the little japanese chef came around to EVERY table after the meal for a chat, and made little origami cranes for all the ladies! So sweet! I can highly recommend it!
Best of luck for 2010! I have a good feeling about it 😉

Oh wow, it sounds fantastic! I’m so excited. I’ve been meaning to do this since I moved here!
For me it’s been seven days into the new year and there’s been a lot of not really being bothered. But it’s a work in progress right?

Sadly, Paris isn’t until December. 😦 But when December comes there will be more photos than one person can possibly handle. A freakin’ avalanche of images of me being silly in front of old pretty things. Buildings and such I mean, not people. That would be weird.
But maybe I’ll go to a french restaurant in the meantime and pretend! “oui, oui, mademoiselle.”

Actually that’s a really good idea. IT’S ON THE LIST.

Thanks for commenting on this post, we’re in Feb now and I actually needed a reminder of what my goals were. I’m going to print them out now and stick them in front of my desk. WEAR HEELS MORE OFTEN. PRACTICE FRENCH. Jeez, I need to get on with this!
